Areola & Nipple
Dr. Arledge is a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in all aspects of breast rejuvenation procedures, including breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, and breast reconstruction. A key goal at Arledge Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery is to ensure that every patient’s desires and concerns are heard, understood, and reflected in their results. This is why Dr. Arledge and her entire staff are dedicated to the art of listening.
Whether you are considering:
Augmentation
Breast augmentation, or breast enlargement surgery, is among the most commonly performed plastic surgery procedures practiced by Dr. Arledge.
Women have breast enlargement surgery for a variety of different and personal reasons. Many of our patients have found that Dr. Arledge has helped them fulfill their desires for breast augmentation.
Many patients opt for breast augmentation for many different reasons, here are just a few that we hear from our patients:
- Increase the cup size of their breast
- Look more proportionate in clothing
- “Fill out” or fit better in existing clothing (dresses, bathing suits, etc.)
- Correct the reduction in breast volume that sometimes occurs after pregnancy
- Correct imbalance or asymmetry in breast size
Dr. Arledge is dedicated to providing natural-looking results. She uses breast implants that are proportional and symmetrical to the rest of the body. After breast implant surgery, your breasts will appear more “shapely” and “full.” Improving the contour of your breasts can create the look you desire.
Lift
The effects of aging, weight loss, gravity, and pregnancy can profoundly affect the appearance of a woman’s breasts by causing them to stretch. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts often lose their firmness and begin to sag. Dr. Arledge performs breast lift surgery (mastopexy) to help improve the shape of a woman’s sagging breasts as well as restore the nipple-areolar complex. Dr. Arledge will take the time to explain the procedure and its benefits in a friendly, easy to understand, manner. In some cases, depending on the amount of breast tissue a patient has before a breast lift, a breast implant may also be needed to restore volume loss. Breast implants may improve both the volume and shape of the breasts. Improving the contour of your breasts can help achieve the look that you desire.
You may be a candidate for a breast lift if:
- You would like to lift the position of your breasts
- You find difficulty dressing or working out due to where your breasts sit on your chest
- You are uncomfortable changing clothes or wearing a bathing suit
- You want perkier breasts
- You would like to lift your breasts in addition to your augmentation
Reduction
Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is often requested by patients bothered by the appearance and strain of oversized breasts. Dr. Arledge and her team at Arledge Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery can help breast reduction patients lead a more comfortable and active lifestyle. Reduction mammoplasty, aka breast reduction surgery, removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue, and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body. The procedure also alleviates the discomfort associated with overly large breasts. Dr. Arledge has provided many women and men with the results they desire. During your initial consultation, Dr. Arledge will be able to discuss whether you may be a candidate for breast reduction.
You may be a candidate for breast reduction if:
- You have frequent back pain due to the weight and size of your breasts
- You have difficulty exercising due to the weight and size of your breasts
- You struggle to find clothing that will fit your body proportionately to your breasts
- Your breasts are significantly disproportionate to the rest of your body
Reconstruction
There are many reasons you may seek breast reconstruction including, post-mastectomy, congenital anomaly, or even trauma. Dr. Arledge offers personalized, compassionate, and experienced assistance to help you rebuild your figure and sense of femininity. To accomplish this, Dr. Arledge offers a variety of breast reconstruction procedures tailored to each individual's needs.
You may be a candidate if:
- You have suffered injury or trauma to one or both of your breasts
- You have had one or both of your breasts removed (mastectomy)
- You are having one or both of your breasts removed and would like to have reconstruction at the same time
- You are dissatisfied with the shape of your breasts since puberty
- You would like to restore the look and feel of your breasts
Implant Revision
Dr. Arledge's experience & technique is why she excels in breast procedures. Because of this, countless patients turn to her for help in correcting their previous breast enhancement surgery results.
The following are the most common reasons why patients seek implant revision surgery:
- You desire a larger or smaller size breast implant
- You would like another type or shape of the implant
- You are bothered by visible folds or “rippling” in their implants
- Your implants have leaked or ruptured
- You are suffering from capsular contracture (a potentially painful condition in which scar tissue develops around the implant, causing the breast to feel unnaturally hard)
- Your implants have migrated to an undesirable location
- You notice a change in breast tissue (often the result of pregnancy, major weight fluctuations, or the natural aging process) has caused the breasts to look saggy or less voluminous
- You would like to remove the implants completely
- Your breasts are unequal in size or shape
If you are experiencing any of the above issues, or even if you are suffering from a concern that is not listed, Dr. Arledge can help. She has extensive expertise in all areas of breast revision surgery. During your consultation, she will discuss your medical and surgical history as well as your aesthetic goals. Based on this information and your unique anatomy, Dr. Arledge will recommend a revision treatment plan that is best suited to meet your needs.
Areola & Nipple
Areola Reduction Surgery
The areola is the pigmented skin surrounding the nipple. The reasons for larger areolae can include genetics, hormones, and breastfeeding. Whatever the cause, Dr. Arledge can help you to reduce the size and correct the shape of your areolae. Areola reduction surgery can be performed on its own or as a component of breast augmentation surgery, breast reduction surgery, or breast lift surgery.
You may be a candidate for areola revision if:
- You wish your areolae were smaller
- You wish to make the shape of your areolae more proportional
- You wish to refine the look of your areolae after breastfeeding
Inverted Nipple Surgery
As its name suggests, the inverted nipple condition occurs when your nipple is pulled inward toward your breast. Reasons for having inverted nipples can include genetics, pregnancy, breastfeeding, trauma, and some forms of cancer. Dr. Arledge can correct inverted nipples with a fairly simple and quick cosmetic procedure. Inverted nipple correction can be performed on its own or as a component of the many other breast procedures offered at Arledge Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery.
Inverted nipples can cause a variety of potential problems. You may be a candidate for inverted nipple correction if:
- You are self-conscious or embarrassed
- You are experiencing difficulty breastfeeding
- You are experiencing infections and/or rashes
Nipple Reduction Surgery
Some patients visit Dr. Arledge because their enlarged nipples have led them to feel self-conscious or unattractive. In some cases, enlarged nipples can also make it difficult to find a comfortably fitting bra or bathing suit.
If you struggle with enlarged, stretched, widened, or asymmetrical nipples, then schedule your private consultation with Dr. Arledge. During your consultation, Dr. Arledge can educate you on a nipple reduction surgery, which can be performed on its own or as a part of the other breast procedures at Arledge Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery.
You may be a candidate for a nipple reduction if:
- You struggle with enlarged, stretched, widened, or asymmetrical nipples
- You are self-conscious or embarrassed about your nipple size
- You are uncomfortable wearing swimwear
- You want your nipples to be proportional to your breast and areola
